Antique Cast Iron Skull and Bones Nut Cracker

This is a rare, exquisite and fine pair of late Victorian bronzed cast iron skull and leg bone nut crackers, the length is 6 inches.

The inner leg bone is marked in the casting with the registered number Rd. 740410.

The joint is nice and tight, and the bronzed finish is good and has not been over cleaned.

The overall condition of this item is original and excellent.

This nut cracker came from an estate, the story goes that they were carried throughout WWI by an officer who was considered more than a little eccentric.

Relatives have often mused of him standing in a dugout cracking nuts in a cool manner with a steely gaze at the enemy all while under a prolonged heavy barrage somewhere on the western front.

These nut crackers are a great genuine antique item, you will either love them or be scared silly of them, but that is entirely up to you.

THIS ITEM IS NOT FOR SALE
