#MORT-1029

For your consideration:

1920s wicker receiving basket.

Manufactured by Frigid Fluid Company in Chicago, Illinois

Containers like these were used to transport the deceased from the place of death to the family home or to the funeral home.

These were not used for burial purposes, unless of course the body was so decomposed that there was no way to resue the basket for the next case because of "decomp."

Wicker and steel rod construction. Two sturdy handles at either end for easy transport. Two canvas straps with metal buckles to secure the lid in place.

It also has the original black lined interior with attached pillow.

Size: 84 inches long (including handles) x 18 inches tall x 20 inches wide.

Condition: Very sturdy piece. There is some white calcium-like staining scattered throughout the wicker and some on the black lining. It should easily clean up nicely.Remarkable condition overall considering age and use.

Free Shipping to Lower 48 only.
