Polar Cub Electric Vibrator
For your consideration:
This is a lovely 1920s POLAR CUB ELECTRIC VIBRATOR in its original box.
The size of the box is 9 and 1/2 inches long by 6 and 3/4 inches wide by 3 inches deep.
Here is a POLAR CUB ELECTRIC MOTOR VIBRATOR N0.B87 by
THE A.C. GILBERT CO., NEW HAVEN, CONN., U.S.A., a company made famous by
the ERECTOR SET TOYS. This was promoted for medicinal purposes but people
back then were just as familiar with human anatomy as we are today.
The vibrator had wild exaggerated claims, suggesting their vibrator was useful for:
RHEUMATISM AND SORE MUSCLES, INDIGESTION AND CONSTIPATION, THE COMPLEXION,
HEADACHES, INSOMNIA, NERVOUSNESS, NEURALGIA, BUST DEVELOPMENT, HAIR AND SCALP,
USE AFTER SHAVING, DOUBLE CHIN, and WRINKLES.
The vibrator proper has a grey painted metal head, green painted handle, cloth insulated wires,
a rubber cupped tip (which has become solid as a rock), rubber fingers tip (also hard as a rock),
and a hard black concave tip that may be Bakelite.
I do not know if this works or not, as I do not want to plug it in.
The 1920's period graphics on the outside of the box, extremely worn and stained, would still make this fun
to display in your Drug Store, General Store, Vanity, or Barbershop collection.
