Vintage Paregoric Bottle 2
For your consideration:
Here is a nice and very clean "baby killer" Paregoric bottle, circa 1890s-1900s.
The bottles stands about 5 and 5/8 inches tall and the glass has no chips or cracks. The label
is excellent. The reason these are called "baby killers" is due to the fact that it
was an opium and alcohol solution, with camphor added to hopefully deter abuse.
It has been said that the taste is horrid, like eating 1000 pieces of black licorice all at once.
It works well to kill a stomach ache, instantly. Worked for diarreah too, but too much over a long
peroid of time would make one constipated.
The dosage was to give it to children sparingly so it wouldn't kill them but sadly, some
folks thought the more the better.
It looks like it has some remnants of the medicine in the bottom,
a partial cork stopper and some vintage dust and dirt on the outside but no chips, cracks or nicks.
All bottles are sold only for collector purposes
and contents must not be used in any way. This item is being sold as a collectible only and
not for use of the contents.
