Mimi Garneau Flea Circus Pitch Card

Vintage pitch card for Mimi Garneau's Flea Cirus.
Mimi Garneau was born as Hazel Jude Thomas in 1890 and learned to swallow swords, performing under
the name Jude around the late 1920s. She gained noteriety by being the first woman to swallow a neon tube.
Garneau’s early sword swallowing career included performances with Ripley’s Believe It or Not,
the Al G. Barnes, Sells-Floto, and Ringling Brothers and Barnum & Bailey shows.
In addition to swallowing swoards, she also ran a flea circus and managed a sideshow.
Garneau performed sword swallowing for several decades, and even appeared on The Tonight Show with
Steve Allen in 1961. After she put away her swords in the 1960s, Garneau continued to perform with
her flea circus, complete with specially designed props and real fleas.
She traveled for several years with her flea circus before finally retiring in the mid-1970s.
Garneau spent her final years in Tampa, FL, where she passed away on Feb. 22, 1986.
This is an authentic pitch card, the size is 5 and 1/4 inches wide by 4 inches tall, offset printed both sides on medium weight stock.
