Mumia Vera (Mummy) Apothecary Jar

This is a modern apothecary jar that was made in Germany by Herr Keramik.
Stands 4 and 1/4 inches tall with lid.
Mumia usually refers to in apothecary terms, Egyptian (powdered) Mummy; which
at one time was a prime ingredient used and sold in European apothecary shops many
years ago. I am pretty certain this is a joke type apothecary jar, which is in mint condition.
Mumia vera ägyptica is a powder that was was sold in Swiss, German and French apothecaries
as a laxative and cure for the common cold, as late as 1924. This powder was made from
mummified human remains imported from Alexandria and handled in Venice, Lyon and Marseille.
This lovely bottle comes from the private collection of a longtime
collector of Apothecary Items.
All bottles are sold only for collector purposes
