McGees Baby Elixir Medicine Bottle
For your consideration:
This is a rare vintage McGee's Bably Elixir Medicine Bottle and box and insert.
This is an old cork top bottle that is embossed on the back with the words:
THE MAYFIELD MEDICINE MANUFACTURING CO. INC. ST. LOUIS, MO.
This came from an old Drug Store that had just closed down. The bottle and label are both
in very good condition. It stands almost 6 inches tall counting cork.
The original cork is tightly in place though it looks like it is disintegrating.
The Label is intact with only a few micro nibbles on the very edges and a couple
of tiny rubs.
It reads: McGEE'S BABY ELIXIR---7 % ALCOHOL---PREPARED BY JAMES F. BALLARD ST. LOUIS, MO.
It also gives Directions and a list of what the medicine should have been used
for.
The box is all there except the top flaps. It has neat image or graphics of a Baby
and Dove. It is all ledgible. The paper insert is fragile, but can be unfolded very
carefully. Also there is some rather strange sediment on the bottom and I am not sure
if it is from the cork or the medicine.
This lovely bottle comes from the private collection of a longtime
collector of Apothecary Items.
