Fowler's Solution Arsenic Bottle

For your consideration:
This is a very rare Fowler's Solution bottle, the first I have ever seen. It is a blown in mould (BIM) clear glass bottle with a vibrant paper label for Fowler's Solution (arsenic) poison bottle from S.T. Oliver, Druggist, The Rexall Store, Telephone 106, Fryeburg, Maine.

No damage, just inner bottle soiling, with typical factory glass flaws, bubbles, etc. Some light rainbowing to glass. Definitely NOT a dug bottle. Additionally embossed 414 on base. This beauty measure 5 and 1/8 inches tall and the label is in excellent condition for something that came from the 1920s or earlier vintage.

A Dr. Fowler of Stafford, England discovered its use in 1786 and was prescribed in the United States for over 150 years for a range of ailments including malaria, chorea, and syphilis. Fowler's solution is also known as Solution of Potassium Arenite, Arsenicum Album, Kali Arsenicosum or Kali arseniatum, Liquor Arsenicalis, Liquor Potass.E Arsenitis. Fowler’s Solution contains a 1% solution of potassium arsenite.

This solution was used to treat blood poisoning or leukemia. Ironic in that beginning dosages gave off false positives that the ill being treated were making progress only to die later on from arsenic poisoning.

This lovely bottle comes from the private collection of a longtime collector of Apothecary Items.

All bottles are sold only for collector purposes
and contents must not be used in any way. This item is being sold as a collectible only and not for use of the contents.
