Dill's Bateman's Drops Medicine Bottle
For your consideration:
A century ago, sales of medicine and drugs were still pretty much unregulated,
and quacks could claim whatever they wanted about the use and effectiveness of
their drugs. Unlike most drugs of their day, Dill's only made moderate claims
for their Batemans Drops, recommending that they be "used internally for pain of
stomach and abdomen."
It was probably pretty effective for pain, too, since it was 49% alcohol and each
ounce contained 2 grains of opium. The label is complete and intact, the bottle is empty with the original cork.
The bottle is 5 and 1/2 inches tall and in excellent condition.
This lovely bottle comes from the private collection of a longtime
collector of Apothecary Items.
All bottles are sold only for collector purposes
and contents must not be used in any way. This item is being sold as a collectible only and
not for use of the contents.
