Dr. Jones' Anodyne Liniment
For your consideration:
This is a very nice bottle of Dr. Jones' Anodyne Liniment with original contents and original box.
The bottle and label are both in great condition, the box is complete with its top flap intact.
The top of the box even has a paper stamp that says, "PAIN'S GREATEST FOE."
The box is made of sturdy cardboard, and is overed in printed paper (!!!) and looks like it might have
been hand folded and sealed onto the cardboard box.
The front of the box has this written on it:
HOUSTONIA
The Original
JONES'
LINIMENT
First Compounded in 1870
Then there is a photo of the good Dr. W. G. Jones
beneath his photo it says:
FOR MAN OR BEAST
This medicine was made in 1919 and on the side of the box it states:
ANTISEPTIC ANODYNE STIMULANT ABSORBENT
(True anodynes were applied externally to the part affected.
Such among those classed "simple" were onion, lily, root of mallows,
leaves of violet, elderberry, etc.)
The bottle is 5 and 1/2 inches tall and has no damage at all. The box is only
missing one flap beneath the top main flap, otherwise is very sturdy.
Also comes with a wonderful testimonial circular.
This lovely bottle comes from the private collection of a longtime
collector of Apothecary Items.
All bottles are sold only for collector purposes
and contents must not be used in any way. This item is being sold as a collectible only and
not for use of the contents.
