VICTORIAN LAUDANUM POISON LABEL POSTER
Laudanum is an alcoholic tincture of opium, sometimes sweetened with sugar and
also called wine of opium.
Laudanum was very popular during the Victorian era. It was pretty much prescribed for
anything and everything that ailed you.
The term "opium-eaters" meant one who consumed Laudanum.
Laudanum was a favorite drug that was consumed by Lord Byron, Shelly and others.
This poster is 22 inches wide by 17 inches high, generous red ink lushly printed on parchment stock.
PLEASE NOTE: This poster image was hand drawn by Madame Talbot using nothing more than pen and ink on illustration board.
After the poster was completed, it was taken to a real printer and printed on an offset printing press.
Absolutely no computers were used in the making of this poster, all of it was drawn entirely by hand.
