Black Cat Delta Blues Poster

Black cats can be considered as a good luck symbol or a bad luck symbol, depending on which culture you believe in.

In Great Britain, the black cat is considered lucky and little black cat tokens are given to brides.

Should a black cat show up unexpectedly at a home in Scotland, its significance is one of prosperity.

It is also believed that a woman who owns a black cat will have many lovers.

Sadly, westerners believe that the black cat is a symbol of evil, especially those suspected of being the familiars of witches.

It is considered an omen of misfortune and death should a black cat crosses paths with a person. In Germany, some believe that black cats crossing a person's path from right to left, is a bad omen. But from left to right, the cat is granting favorable times.

18th century pirates believed a black cat would bring good and bad luck. Should a black cat walk towards a person, they will have bad luck. But if that same black cat walks away, that person will have good luck. If a black cat saunters onto a ship about ready to embark, and then turns around and walks off it, the ship is doomed to sink on its next trip.

Today we love black cats and encourage all cat owners to seek out their own lucky black cat!

This poster is 17 inches wide by 22 inches high, generous black ink lushly printed on parchment stock.
