Cramp Rings Mini Framed Curio

Cramp Rings Mini Framed Curio

Cramp Rings Mini Framed Curio

This beautiful framed curio is 7inches wide by 9 inches tall.

The top placard is hand-written using a Victorian dip pen and Victorian era ink on hundred-year-old paper and the bottom placard was typed on a Victorian era typewriter.
There are four brass rings that have been mounted on vintage red velvet.

Brass rings were placed on a corpse before they were buried. After a good amount of time had passed, the bones were dug up and removed from the grave in order to make room for other corpses.

The bones were place in the local charnel house, which was the custom in many parts of Europe and parts of the Unitesd States during the Victorian era. When the bones were dug up, rings worn on the hands of corpses were highly sought after and were considered a sure-cure for cramps in the hands.

Double wedding rings found intact within a grave of a husband and wife were considered the ultimate prize for those searching for the ever elusive corpse ring aka cramp rings.

This piece was mounted on vintage velvet and trimmed with Victorian gold metal bullion trim and framed in a beautiful vintage style wooden frame. It is ready to hang in your very own personal dime museum or personal sideshow.

Please Note: With all of my Framed Curio Exhibits, I try to replicate an authentic atmosphere of Victorian-era Dime Museum Patina. This of course refers to that very special layer of age that builds up over decades, something which I try to incorporate into all of the framed curio pieces I make.

This Victorian-era Dime Museum Patina may include one or more of the following: vintage dust fabric, flower petals shards, glue bits, thread strands, sun faded material, water stained, and/or smoke burned 100-year-old paper, &c., &c., and &c.
