Real Mummy Bitumen in White Framed Curio
This beautiful framed curio is 6 and 1/2 inches wide by 7 inches tall.
The placard is hand-written using a Victorian dip pen and Victorian era ink
on hundred-year-old paper which reads:
Mummy Balm
Recommended as a treat-
ment for pain in the
heart or the stomach,
vomiting and stink in
the mouth. aka Funeral
Balm or Egyptian Balm.
One glass bottle of real Egyptian Mummy Bitumen, corked and sealed in wax which has been mounted in the center.
I acquired a large cache of Egyptian mummy remains i.e. a large canister of bitumen, many pieces of mummy fabric/shroud/linen as well as quite a few miscellaneous smaller bones and teeth.
All of these vary rare pieces were given to me as a gift by the proprietor of the Niagara Falls Museum, to be used exclusively in my framed curio exhibits.

This of course refers to that very special layer of age that builds up over decades,
something which I try to incorporate into all of the framed curio pieces I make.
This Victorian-era Dime Museum Patina may include one or more of the following:
vintage dust fabric, flower petals shards, glue bits, thread strands, sun faded material,
water stained, and/or smoke burned 100-year-old paper, &c., &c., and &c.
