Hirudo Medicinalis Leech Framed Curio
The Hirudo Medicinalis leech feeds on blood; some leeches also dine off decomposing bodies and
open seeping wounds. A leech will firmly attach itself when it bites, and it will stay attached
until it has become full and satiated with blood.
The last thing you want to do, is pull the leech off before its sucker can unhook itself. This action can also
cause regurgitation which adds serious risks. The regurgitated stomach contents in a fresh wound
may carry disease. Also, there is chance of further infection by the teeth of the leech tearing the wound,
and then leaving parts of the leech's jaw in the wound.
This beautiful framed curio is 8 inches wide by 14 inches tall by 3 inches deep.
This is an actual wet specimen of a soaked leech nestled inside a Victorian wood box,
surrouned by vintage red velvet drapery and gold metal bullion trim. Gold metal bullion
star in the center up top.
