Madame Bovary Victorian Mourning Doll

Madame Bovary
Madame Bovary was written by Gustave Flaubert which was later attacked for
obscenity by public prosecutors in 1856, that made the book and its main character
quite notorious. It became a bestseller in 1857.
The novel focuses on a doctor's wife, Emma Bovary, who has many illicit and passionate
affairs and lives way beyond her means in order to escape the banalities and emptiness
of life with a rather dull and boring doctor.

Madame Bovary is 16 inches tall, from the top of her head to the bottom of her feet.
She has articulated legs and bowed articulated arms.
Madame Bovary as well as her costume was completely hand-stitched,
no sewing machines were used.
Madame Bovary's dress is vintage
red velvet fabric and a different vintage red fabric was also used. Her slip is vintage linen and
the hem is trimmed in vintage lace.
She wears a large black vintage button at her neck.
The entire doll was hand-stitched from cotton fabric, her
face was hand-painted using acrylic paints,
and the body is stuffed with 100% clean polyestor fiber fill.
This particular doll has been accessorized with a lovely auburn tight ringlet wig.
Each doll comes with a set of elegant hang-tags
that were specially made for this years batch of dolls.
