to demanding ghosts, buried treasure, enchantments, miracles, visitations, the dead
that are not dead, etc.
There is the death of the Wandering Jew, a doctor abscessed with ministering to the
dead, a woman who sells her soul that has daughter be whito, a famous black constable;
there is superstition, horror, terror and faith. Interacting material, never pedantic,
of regional and racial tradition and lore.
This book has been gently read, and the pages are clean and
bright with gentle light wear to it's cover.
