The Dracula Scrapbook
Edited by Peter Haining
Hardbound with Original Hard to Find dustjacket
Pages: 176
Publisher: Bramhall House
Date Published: 1976, RARE First Edition
This book is literally crammed with incredible Victorian era art work - the end boards and pages
in front and back have a dark-and-stormy night scene of a carriage being driven through the
thunderstorms in a dark mysterious setting with bats flying overhead and a large house looming ahead.
Lots of photos and drawings and information about the history of the Vampire:
Christopher Lee, Bram Stoker, Babylonian vampires, the definition of the vampire, Vampyres and Ghouls by Charles Dickens Jnr, 18th century illustration of vampire still clad in burial clothes, bodies being dug up and mutilated, heads cut off, bodies burnt, hearts staked, Japanese vampires, the infamous Gilles de Rais, Marshal de Retz, drank young children's blood, the Vampyre (from the Roumanian of Vasile Alecsandri), eighteenth century engraving depicting Transylvanian coffin makers using silver nails as a protection against vampires, etc.
This is what I transcribed just up to page 21! So there is much, much more, a really wonderful book and very rare first edition book for any vampire devotee.
