SCUD: Subterranean Cooperative of Urban Dreamers

When WWII began the brothel was shut down because rooms were in dire need as rooms were scarce. The building was turned into a sort of makeshift hotel for soldiers and assorted seamen who needed a place to crash after their booze and sex benders before heading back out to war again.

Once the war ended, the building fell into a sad state of disrepair. With its boards sagging and paint peeling, the new owner of the building christened it The Sound View Apartments.

Because of its already rather seedy reputation as well as its dangerous location (the bowels of Seattle), it became a full-fledged flophouse. What happened during that time no one really knows as there are no records anywhere. We looked. It was as if the building had never even existed.

During the late 1970s, the building had transitioned from flop house to merely seedy apartments. We were fortunate to have met a few of the building's previous tenants who told us that when they lived there, not one but two murders had taken place.

Now as to how many people actually died in that building we will never know, but we knew someone had died there because of some of the really strange activity kept reoccurring while we lived there.
